Hey Everyone,
With the recent market bloodbath and Ripple putting so much weight behind RLUSD lately, a lot of people are getting fatigued. I want to take a step back and lay out a completely objective, macro look at the current state of $XRP. Compared to May 2025, significant progress is being made. But we have to look at both sides of the coin.
The Good:
The SEC drama is officially dead
XRP is officially a commodity
The CLARITY Act is actually moving forward
ETFs are pulling real liquidity: over a billion dollars and counting
Heavyweight institutional pilots: JP Morgan and Mastercard
Ripple now operates a prime brokerage clearing over three trillion annually
The XRPL now hosts roughly $3.6 billion in tokenized Real World Assets (RWAs). This is a massive jump from last year
Unlike ETH or SOL, where devs have to write custom smart contracts, tokenization is baked directly into the XRPL. This is a good thing, less risky for banks
The Bad:
Banks can easily use RLUSD to settle value without ever touching or buying XRP
Gas fees don't count, our great-grandchildren would be dead before this matters
Monthly escrow unlocks still introduce billions of tokens into the ecosystem
We are betting on an institutional timeline, not a retail hype cycle
The majority of RWAs are represented assets, think of it like glorified corporate record keeping with minimal impact on XRP price
This has always been an institutional bet. That bet remains. However, between the RLUSD pivot, the lack of immediate XRP price action, and having no native ability to stake, Retail is largely being left to live off of hopium.
Given all the positive traction over the past year, XRP definitely isn't a dead coin. But we need to be honest with ourselves: a massive structural change in how institutions utilize the actual token remains the only way we will see true price appreciation and Ripple doesn't seem to be helping. Is that structural change possible, given Ripple's RLUSD focus?
