July PCE inflation held at 3.7% yoy, matching June and exceeding Fed's 2% target for 65th consecutive month. Core PCE at 3.3% also unchanged.

The market viewed persistent inflation and resilient economic activity as evidence that further Fed tightening remains possible. Following yesterday's reports, the 2-year UST yield rose to 4.22%, while the 10-year yield climbed to 4.66%. As of now, yields remain near those levels at 4.22% and 4.64%, respectively.

Bitcoin rose 23% in August, but its biggest test may come this weekend. BTC has had a very strong August, rising approximately 23% since the beginning of the month. However, ahead lie several key macroeconomic data releases: July’s core PCE, Q2 GDP, and especially Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s first speech at Jackson Hole on August 28. Key points to watch: Lower-than-expected PCE → Reduced inflationary pressure → Fed gains more room to ease → Yields and the USD may decline → Favorable for risk assets like BTC. Higher-than-expected PCE → Fed faces tighter constraints → Market may book profits after the recent strong rally. Importantly, don’t focus solely on PCE. The Fed still faces inflation above its 2% target, while long-term bond yields remain elevated. Warsh’s speech will therefore be critical in signaling whether he leans toward controlling inflation or easing policy.

Turkey is forecast to become the world’s 17th largest economy by 2030, with a nominal GDP of $1.934 trillion, and is expected to account for 1.3% of the global economy.

PCE held at 3.7%. No progress on inflation. Three hawks wanted a hike last month. 69% of fund managers expected Warsh to be neutral on Friday. That was before this morning's print. Neutral just got a lot harder to deliver with a straight face. $BTC #Warsh #JacksonHole #FOMC #Inflation

The Fed's inflation target is 2%. July PCE: 3.7% YoY. Core PCE: 3.3% YoY. We are not close. We are not trending there fast. Warsh speaks Friday at 10 AM ET. The data on his desk right now doesn't give him room to sound dovish. The next 20 days just got a lot more complicated. $BTC #PCE #FederalReserve #JacksonHole #Macro

The July PCE price index came in higher than expected at 3.7% year-over-year. This is a short-term headwind for cryptocurrency and stock markets, including the Nasdaq. It is positive for the dollar and will likely push short-term Treasury yields higher. Starting in September, the Treasury will begin releasing TGA funds to purchase Treasuries, but the Fed is increasingly likely to move in the opposite direction. A key variable now, as important as the Treasury’s actions, is how Kevin Warsh interprets this 3.7% PCE reading at Jackson Hole. With the Treasury having set its course, let’s closely watch how the Fed decides to respond. #PCE #FederalReserve

3 key events could decide whether $BTC extends this move or gives some of it back. ◽️First up is July’s US core PCE, with economists expecting 3.2% YoY. A hotter print could push back against September rate-cut expectations, with markets already pricing around a 38% chance of a 25bp hike. ◽️Then there’s Nvidia earnings. BTC has maintained a strong relationship with NVDA, with their 90-day correlation mostly above 0.5 since 2025. A strong print could keep risk appetite elevated. ◽️ Finally, Kevin Warsh’s Jackson Hole speech could be the biggest macro catalyst. Markets will be watching whether the Fed supports the Treasury’s longer-duration buyback strategy or takes a more hawkish stance. BTC already looks stretched after its recent rally. Which catalyst do you think has the highest chance of actually moving Bitcoin next?
