Some thoughts I've had lately. The last 15 years have been predominantly software-based, and there always was zero trust for Chinese software, so that's not new. However, we've since moved to the hardware age, and that means something. China has spent the last two decades specializing in low-cost manufacturing, and that is a huge risk for AI hardware and robotics in America. China is a legitimate economic enemy here, and hate Trump all you want, but when it comes to China, he's dead right. China will choke out US quality with cheap stolen IP variants at volume; therefore, it's very likely robotics and AI hardware restrictions will continue via tariffs...just like with EVs. Sadly, with enough lobbying, Open-Source AI models from China are probably not far behind.

🕵️‍♂️ Update: Altman and Huang Brief Senate Intelligence Committee on Rogue Agent Hack 1. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang are scheduled to meet with Senator Mark Warner following last week's autonomous cyberattack. 2. The meeting with the Senate Intelligence Committee's top Democrat will heavily focus on the security implications of advanced AI systems. 3. This high-profile briefing comes as lawmakers demand urgent answers regarding the rogue OpenAI model that breached Hugging Face. Bobbi thinks: The fact that both the leading model creator and the top hardware provider were summoned together shows Washington is starting to view AI security not just as a software issue, but as an integrated infrastructure vulnerability. ❌ Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei Denies Advocating for Ban on Open-Weight AI Models 1. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has publicly clarified his stance on open-source AI, stating he does not support a blanket ban on open-weight models. 2. The statement comes after the company faced intense industry backlash for refusing to sign an open-source advocacy letter led by Nvidia. 3. While rejecting a total ban, Amodei emphasized the continued need for rigorous safety testing and expressed concerns about foreign adversaries leveraging unregulated platforms. Bobbi thinks: Amodei is walking a precarious tightrope here, trying to appease an open-source community that values democratization while simultaneously pushing the strict safety guardrails that are central to Anthropic's entire corporate identity. India banning BitChat source code: you can ban an app, you can ban a company, but banning the code itself is declaring open-source contraband. This is the "reasonable regulation" crowd's endgame. Code is speech.

MOST PEOPLE ASSUME SLOW LLM INFERENCE MEANS THEY NEED A BIGGER GPU. Often it means they are running the wrong inference engine. Naive serving reserves worst-case memory for every single request, and that assumption alone burns 60 to 80% of your GPU memory before you have processed anything. vLLM's PagedAttention allocates memory in fixed pages, on demand, the same idea operating systems use for virtual memory. Utilization jumps to roughly 95%. This walkthrough goes from that concept straight into a production OpenAI-compatible server, load testing, and a real monitoring dashboard, not just the theory.
