Tether shuts down aUSDT platform
Tether is winding down Alloy by Tether and its gold-backed aUSDT stablecoin, with users needing to redeem by Sept. 17, 2026, or lose XAUT collateral.

Tether is winding down the Alloy project and the aUSDT token 🪙 Tether announced the closure of the Alloy platform and the aUSDT stablecoin, backed by XAUt gold. Immediately after the interface update, the creation of new positions was blocked. Users were given 3 months (until September 17) to withdraw assets and retrieve collateral. The reason is low demand and a focus on other products. #Crypto | #Tether | #aUSDT | #XAUt

Tether is shutting down Alloy by Tether (@Alloy_tether) and aUSDT, its gold-backed synthetic dollar experiment 🚨 The platform let users mint aUSDT using Tether Gold (XAUT) as overcollateralized collateral, combining stablecoins, RWAs, and synthetic assets in a single product. @tether says it’s now shifting focus toward XAUT and other core ecosystem products. A reminder that not every crypto experiment fails. Some simply teach valuable lessons before the next iteration begins 🎬 Read about Tether-verse 👇🌎

❌ @tether is winding down @Alloy_tether and its gold-backed derivative stablecoin $aUSDT. Existing users will have three months to redeem $aUSDT and withdraw their $XAUT collateral. The decision brings an end to a product launched in June 2024. Alloy allowed users to deposit $XAUT as collateral and mint $aUSDT through @ethereum smart contracts, providing dollar-like liquidity without requiring users to sell their gold exposure. The company noted that Alloy provided insights into demand for gold-backed digital assets, collateral-based products, and tokenized RWAs. Tether will now focus on initiatives with “stronger user demand, deeper liquidity, and broader long-term market opportunity.”
