NEW: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signs legislation allowing state-chartered banks and credit unions to offer crypto custody services starting August 1, 2026. The law requires strict asset segregation, cybersecurity standards, and 60 days notice to regulators before launch. At the same time, Minnesota moved to ban crypto ATMs statewide by the end of 2026, signaling a shift toward regulated bank custody over decentralized kiosks.

Standard Chartered’s decision to integrate Zodia Custody’s regulated operations and launch Zodia Solutions as a standalone entity reflects global banks’ shift toward building internal crypto custody services, signaling industry maturity and accelerating institutional demand.

# Today in Crypto: FBI Coins, Stablecoin Laws, and a Fake Trump Token The FBI just admitted they made their own crypto token to catch fraudsters. Wild but true - federal agents launched a token, watched bad actors manipulate it, then arrested them. It's called Operation Token Mirrors, and it actually worked. Meanwhile, Iowa just became the first state to pass stablecoin legislation into law. Governor Kim Reynolds signed it today. The law creates a regulatory framework for payment stablecoins and blocks the state from launching its own competing digital currency. And in peak 2025 chaos, someone launched a fake Trump memecoin and crashed it within hours. It hit $150 million market cap before rugpulling to zero. Not affiliated with Trump at all - just someone using his name for exit liquidity. The #FBI making tokens to catch scammers is dystopian and genius at the same time. Iowa's #stablecoin law might actually matter more long-term though. First state to pass real digital asset legislation.

BlackRock and Fidelity Increasingly Bullish on Crypto Large financial institutions like BlackRock, Coinbase, and Fidelity are increasingly optimistic about the future of global crypto. Their primary focus is now on stablecoins, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, artificial intelligence (AI), and increasingly clear crypto regulations in the US and Europe. Fidelity even predicts that more countries will start buying Bitcoin as a national reserve, while Ethereum is expected to continue to dominate the asset tokenization sector and the growth of institutional crypto ETFs.
