🚨 4 companies are about to spend $725 billion on AI in a single year. That number is larger than the GDP of most countries on earth. Amazon is committing $200 billion, Microsoft $190 billion, Google $190 billion, and Meta $145 billion. All four raised their guidance this quarter, and none of them are slowing down. Microsoft's CFO said the company expects to remain capacity constrained through all of 2026, even after spending $190 billion. They simply cannot build fast enough to meet demand. Microsoft attributed $25 billion of its budget purely to rising memory chip costs. Meta said the same thing, pointing to higher component pricing, particularly memory, alongside rising costs for land, power, and skilled workers. Data centers now consume 70% of the world's entire memory output. Microsoft's AI business is now running at an annualized revenue rate of $37 billion, up 123% year over year. Amazon Web Services posted its fastest growth rate in 15 quarters at 28%. The money being spent is starting to come back. Amazon is looking at negative free cash flow of nearly $17 billion this year as a result of this spending. These companies are burning cash at historic rates because they believe whoever builds the most infrastructure today controls the AI economy tomorrow. This is exactly why memory stocks like Micron, Sandisk, and SK Hynix are at all time highs right now. The $725 billion has to flow somewhere, and it is flowing directly into chips and memory.

Cathie Wood says the AI boom is starting to revive a group of older tech names many investors had written off. The Ark Invest CEO called them “blasts from the past,” arguing that AI infrastructure spending is now lifting companies beyond the usual mega-cap winners. The names she highlighted include Intel, Cisco, Corning, Flex and Akamai Technologies. The common theme is infrastructure. Intel is trying to regain relevance through AI chips and its foundry ambitions. Cisco is positioning itself around AI networking demand. Corning is benefiting from demand for fiber and connectivity products tied to data center buildouts. Flex has become a manufacturing and supply chain player connected to AI hardware deployment. Akamai may be the most surprising name on the list. Wood noted that the company, long seen as a slower-growth cloud and edge computing player, recently secured a hyperscaler order. That could signal AI demand is reaching deeper into older infrastructure businesses. Her broader point is that AI is no longer just a narrow software or semiconductor story. It is becoming a full-scale infrastructure cycle. That matters because infrastructure cycles can pull in companies with manufacturing capacity, enterprise relationships and technical expertise. The takeaway: Wall Street may be underestimating how broad the AI ripple effect could become. Some forgotten tech names may be getting a second life from the AI boom.

Well constructed ETF composition making it the default long in memory largely due to its exposure of SK Hynix and Samsung in Korea. The financial market around this is still growing and I expect there to be quite a deep options chain around it forming soon.

KOSPI (South Korea stocks) is up over 200% from its 2025 lows. While everyone was watching the S&P 500 and chasing crypto, South Korea quietly ran the greatest stock market rally in a generation. Here is how they did it. South Korea is home to Samsung and SK Hynix, the two companies that make the memory chips every AI model runs on. Every data center, every ChatGPT response, every AI query needs their chips to function. When the AI boom hit, demand exploded. SK Hynix tripled in 2025. Samsung doubled. Those two stocks make up a third of the entire Korean market, when they run, everything runs with them. KOSPI went from $2,700 to nearly $8,000 in roughly a year. Most people know AI is changing everything. Very few bothered to ask which country was supplying the hardware that makes it all possible.
