Ethereum quantum-resistant upgrades
Ethereum adds six quantum-resistant signature schemes, 13 EVM precompiles, and recursive STARK aggregation under ETH2030 roadmap. Post-Quantum Security team formed in Jan 2026.

Evolution is rarely an accident; it is engineered. The creation of Zilkworm wasn't a stroke of luck, but the deliberate synthesis of deep preparation and emerging opportunity. By leveraging years of complex C++ development on Silkworm—specifically harnessing the Erigon component model and Staged sync—we had the ideal, battle-tested foundation ready to tackle the complexities of ZK proving. Zilkworm is the refined distillation of that multi-year journey. As ZK proving moves toward becoming the industry standard, what role do you think deep, foundational client engineering will play? Drop your thoughts below. #Zilkworm #EVM #Ethereum #RISCV #ZKVM

Vitalik just pointed out the 2 biggest bottlenecks if Ethereum wants real scaling, zk-native infra, and client-side proving: State tree and VM. Here are the key upgrades being discussed: – State tree upgrade (Hexary MPT → Binary tree). – New hash functions (Blake3 / Poseidon variants). – Storage “pages” design . – VM transition discussion (EVM → RISC-V or similar). If Ethereum executes this properly: • ZK apps won’t need custom state trees. • Client-side proving becomes realistic. • Protocol complexity decreases over time. • ETH’s role as global settlement + proof layer strengthens. Long term, this moves Ethereum closer to being a prover-optimized base layer rather than just a smart contract chain. And if @ethereum becomes the most efficient settlement + proof coordination layer, ETH’s structural value capture improves alongside scalability. Trust in $ETH.
