💰 **A deposit is a claim. Cash is bearer. Metal is physical. Bitcoin is keys.** Each comes with a different tradeoff: 🏦 Bank deposit — convenient, but governed by the rules of the banking system. 💵 Cash — outside the bank, but exposed to loss and theft. 🪙 Metal — physical ownership, but still subject to laws where it sits. ₿ Bitcoin — self-custodied by keys, but volatile and unforgiving if those keys are lost. There’s no universal answer. **Read the terms. Know what you actually own.** Data, not advice.

Hungary didn’t just experience inflation. Its currency stopped functioning. In 1946 the pengő collapsed so fast that prices doubled roughly every 15 hours. Banknotes reached twenty zeros, and a larger one was printed but never circulated. The pengő was replaced by the forint. When money loses the ability to hold value, the numbers stop meaning anything. Historical data, not advice. #Bitcoin #Inflation

Yugoslavia, 1994: prices doubled roughly every 1.5 days. The government kept removing zeros from the currency. They kept coming back. People turned to the German mark as the dinar collapsed. When prices double before your paycheck clears, it has stopped being money. And the board still has two rungs below it. Historical data, not advice. #Bitcoin #Inflation #Money #Crypto

Germany, 1923: prices doubled roughly every 3.7 days. Wages were paid daily, sometimes twice a day, because money lost value so quickly. Workers rushed to spend before prices climbed again. And that 3.7-day doubling time? Everything that follows makes it look slow. Historical data, not advice. #Bitcoin #Inflation #Money #Crypto

Hungary’s currency was doubling in price every 15 hours. By 1946, the pengő had become almost impossible to use. A 100 quintillion pengő note was printed, while an even larger denomination was produced but never circulated. Prices could change between morning and evening. Wages lost value before they could be spent. Eventually, the pengő was replaced entirely. This was the worst inflation ever recorded. And the currency everyone remembers? It still sits three rungs above this record. #Inflation #Money

Yugoslavia didn’t lose its currency overnight. It lost it one price tag at a time. By January 1994, prices were doubling roughly every 1.5 days. The government kept redenominating the dinar, but the zeros came roaring back. People increasingly turned to the German mark while the official currency collapsed. When money stops holding value, people stop using it. And this wasn’t even the bottom of the board. #Inflation #Money

### Caption for X 🔥 **Prices doubled every 15 hours.** At the peak of the worst hyperinflation ever measured, money didn’t lose value over months or weeks. It happened in hours. Tonight, the Forge puts **five historic collapses** on the record board—and one famous example may not be the one you expect. #Bitcoin #Crypto #Inflation #Money
