Dropbox to Acquire Tigris Data for $350 Million to Launch AI Infrastructure Platform DBX Agent Cloud
ME AI message, Dropbox has announced plans to acquire cloud technology company Tigris Data for $350 million, which could become its largest acquisition to date. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, aiming to enhance its AI infrastructure capabilities and support the development of DBX Agent Cloud, a storage platform for enterprises and developers. Initially, the platform will offer standalone object storage compatible with Amazon S3 tools and applications, with future plans to add file system functionality to enable AI agents to manage files and maintain continuity across tasks and sessions. Dropbox will also upgrade the AI features of its core products, allowing users to process files with AI, select different models, and connect to third-party tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Muse. The company stated there are no plans for layoffs resulting from this acquisition; it previously reduced its global workforce by approximately 9% last month. Tigris Data was founded by engineers who helped build Uber’s storage infrastructure and completed a $25 million Series A funding round last year. (Source: ChainCatcher)
