Polygon Proposes a Unified Security Council with an 8/11 Multisig Threshold
ME News reports that on November 5 (UTC+8), the Polygon community submitted PIP-93, proposing to consolidate the multisignature wallets managed by the Protocol Committee, the Polygon PoS Security Committee, and the AggLayer/zkEVM Security Committee into a unified Security Committee, implementing a uniform 8/11 multisignature threshold on both Ethereum and Polygon. The proposal is currently in draft stage.
According to the proposal, the new committee will consist of 11 signatories from 10 organizations, with Polygon Labs holding two seats and each of the remaining organizations holding one. The proposal intends to disclose only the list of member organizations, not the identities or addresses of individual signatories, to reduce the risk of social engineering attacks and personal coercion. Routine upgrades and management changes may be submitted by the Polygon Labs-operated multisig with a 5/9 threshold, executed after a 7-day time lock, without requiring individual signatures from the Security Committee. The Security Committee retains the authority to veto transactions during the time lock period, bypass the time lock to immediately implement changes, and restore paused contracts. The Polygon Labs-operated multisig can pause contracts but cannot bypass the time lock to execute upgrades or restore contracts. (Source: Foresight News)
