"Non-custodial" is one of the most abused words in Bitcoin. It means one thing, you hold the keys, and you can leave without anyone's permission. Not "we can't see your keys." Not "it's your account." Not "trust us, we'd never freeze it." The test is simple. If the company vanished tomorrow, could you still move your coins? If the answer depends on their server, their signature, or their app staying online, it's custodial with better marketing. Watch for the tells: - A co-signer or operator that must approve every spend - An "exit" that exists on paper, but your wallet doesn't support it - A service that can pause, freeze or block withdrawals - A recovery process that runs through their support desk Real self-custody means the exit is always open, and you're the one holding the door. Not your keys, not your coins. Not your exit, not your keys either. S17 E48: @robin_linus passionate about true decentralized solutions for Bitcoin bitcoin:native
