i’ve been around long enough to remember the hate for doge before elon and solana before ftx.. doge was the original joke coin. no utility, no serious roadmap, inflationary supply.. people genuinely hated the idea that a meme could be worth billions while legitimate projects struggled for attention. solana was the centralized vc chain.. backed by sbf, controlled by insiders, an ethereum killer that supposedly sacrificed everything crypto stood for just to make transactions faster. i was on the right side of the sol trade and remember how much conviction people had that it would fail. what made both interesting wasn’t that the criticism was completely wrong.. some of it was legitimate. it was that the market confused what it thought deserved to succeed with what people actually wanted to use and own. now look at pumpfun.. the casino, the rugs, the endless launches, the accusations that it’s destroying crypto. people don’t just question the business model.. they genuinely want it gone. yet the platform has generated over $1b in cumulative revenue. there’s a pattern here.. doge challenged what crypto believed deserved value. solana challenged how crypto believed blockchains should be built. pumpfun challenges what crypto believes should be monetized. the market doesn’t need to approve of something for it to become valuable. that’s what makes hate rallies so interesting.
