NEAR holders voted today to cut the network's maximum issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% a year. A 36% cut, phased in over 24 months. The vote ran onchain in House of Stake, and the proposal was written by one of the large holders, not by the foundation. Next: Security Council review, a 90-day grace period, then validators adopt it in a protocol upgrade and the rate steps down every epoch. At the same time NEAR Intents revenue keeps buying NEAR off the market. Less printing on one side, buybacks on the other.
