TRON and USDT: From On-Chain Transfers to Everyday Spending A new study from Oobit (in collaboration with TRON DAO) looked at users who made at least one deposit or withdrawal on the TRON network between March and August 2026. The data shows that the vast majority of these TRON transactions involved USDT-TRC20, not TRX. TRON essentially serves as the blockchain infrastructure that moves USDT (the U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin) between wallets, exchanges, and payment platforms. At the same time, the same group of users was spending through Oobit cards on everyday purchases. 💡How These Users Spent Among categorized Oobit card payments made by this TRON cohort: - Groceries and supermarkets: 14.8% (the largest category) - Restaurants: 12.4% - Taxis and ride-sharing: 7.7% - Fast food: 7.1% - Other food stores: 5.5% Food and transportation together made up a significant share of spending, showing that USDT moved on TRON is being used alongside real-world daily expenses. 💡Geographic Reach Users in the cohort who deposited or withdrew USDT via TRON were active across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and North America. This highlights how stablecoins on TRON are being used to move value across borders in practical ways. Overall, the research illustrates that stablecoins, particularly USDT on TRON, are no longer limited to wallet-to-wallet transfers. Through payment platforms that connect on-chain assets with traditional card networks, they are increasingly being used for everyday spending. @justinsuntron
