When a project posts that it has crossed well over a million captures and hundreds of thousands of dollars in USDC settled, the instinct in crypto is to treat the number as marketing. The more useful exercise is to open the public explorer and examine what those numbers actually represent. Captures are not equal. A short walk down a well-lit street and a careful multi-angle recording of a warehouse loading dock produce very different utility for a robotics team. The explorer shows Merkle trees being attested on Base at a steady cadence and a growing volume of accepted bounties, which is meaningful. It demonstrates that the pipeline from phone to on-chain fingerprint to settlement is operational. What it does not yet show is the downstream usefulness of the reconstructed 3D models. Physical AI companies do not pay for captures; they pay for data that reduces the sim-to-real gap in specific environments. The current ratio of captures to accepted paid bounties suggests most activity is still exploratory or points-driven rather than demand-driven. That is normal at this stage, but it means the headline numbers are best read as proof of infrastructure readiness rather than proof of product-market fit. The grid is measurable. Whether it is valuable is a question the explorer cannot fully answer yet. Anyone can check the live numbers at the @vangrid_io explorer.
