☕️ This morning I gave a cup of loose change a job. It had been sitting there for ages, doing absolutely nothing. Around $30. So I exchanged the coins for cash, converted that into USDC, and decided to build a tiny onchain cash-flow engine. 👀 Here's the whole experiment: • Swapped USDC for AERO on Base @aeroxyz • Staked 50.56 AERO in a perpetual position • Received an sAERO NFT with voting power. • Split that power roughly equally across three markets: USDC / SPCXc USDC / METAc USDC / GOOGLc Now the interesting part. I'm not trading these markets. No trading bots. No trying to predict the next candle. Other people trade, and those trades generate fees. By allocating my sAERO voting power to these pools, I become eligible for a share of those fees. And here's the detail I love: the fees are distributed in the tokens of the pools themselves. USDC and SPCXc. USDC and METAc. USDC and GOOGLc. So I'm not just collecting some generic reward token. I'm earning a share of trading activity in the actual assets used by each pool. If a project adds voting incentives, those can be paid on top. At the time of allocation, the app showed estimated voting APRs around 8–15% across these pools. Those rates move with trading volume, fees, incentives and competing votes. They aren't fixed interest. 📉 📈 If the market goes up, people trade. If it goes down, people trade too. I don't need to guess the direction to participate in the fee flow. 🤖 I could even connect an AI assistant and ask: "What did my engine earn this week?" "How much came from fees versus incentives?" "Which pool produced the most?" This is what I love about DeFi Lego. One small position connects you to a whole world of market activity. I also love breaking complicated things down into atoms and showing them in practice, step by step, right here, right now. A cup of coins. A few transactions. One NFT. Three markets. A small piece of the internet of money, assembled on my phone. There's another fascinating layer: the sAERO position itself is an onchain asset. Over time, assets like this may find additional uses as collateral or as building blocks in other DeFi strategies. That's how one little experiment can lead you to the next. The point isn't getting rich from $30 overnight. It's discovering that even a little spare change can become part of a working financial mechanism. You don't need a huge portfolio to learn how this machinery works. You need curiosity, patience and a willingness to test it with real money – even if it's just the change from a cup. And once you understand how one piece works, you start seeing a thousand others. That's creative investing to me 👨🏼🎨 Not financial advice. Just a real experiment, shared with curiosity.
