In China, many parents purchasing a home for their son choose to register the property solely in their own names, excluding their son’s name and never adding their daughter-in-law’s name after marriage. Moreover, the mortgage does not need to be repaid by the young couple. This arrangement means the couple has only the right to use the property, not ownership. As long as the marriage remains stable, they may live there indefinitely. But if the marriage ends in divorce, the property has no legal connection to either spouse. Do you think this approach by parents is reasonable?
