I am Japanese. In Japan, there is a traditional belief in yaoyorozu no kami, or "eight million gods": the idea that gods dwell in all things. I see this as a kind of survival wisdom. By not worshipping one particular god, a small island nation could avoid religious wars. To me, nothing is uglier than people fighting over religion. So I ask Muslims: please do not force your beliefs on others. We do not reject people who follow our rules. We reject those who do not.
