Will cryptocurrency taxation be postponed again..? Cryptocurrency taxation, set to take effect in January next year, has prompted the Democratic Party to hold discussions with exchanges— during which the industry formally requested a delay in implementation. The Democratic Party has stated: “We will decide on the postponement within 1 to 2 weeks.” Currently, cryptocurrency taxation is planned to apply a 22% rate—including local taxes—on annual profits exceeding 2.5 million KRW. However, concerns have been raised that the tax infrastructure is still insufficient, particularly regarding tracking transactions on overseas exchanges and peer-to-peer trades. The postponement has not yet been confirmed. But it now seems the final decision will be made within just 1 to 2 weeks. 👀 Personally, I believe the system should be properly established before taxation begins.
