Approximately $5.8 billion (about ¥928 billion) in cryptocurrency has been stolen from Binance’s hot wallet. Binance has halted deposits and withdrawals to proceed with its investigation, and Tether and other entities have frozen over $2.5 billion in funds. Although this is described as a theft from a hot wallet, the primary cause appears to be unauthorized access to signature infrastructure via exploitation of EIP-7702. It appears to be linked to North Korea.
