Port Lavaca County is making every effort to secure Tesla’s new $10 billion solar panel manufacturing facility. Tesla, headquartered in Austin, has not yet officially decided where to build the plant. According to the Houston Chronicle, Tesla’s incentive package will be provided over 30 years. Under this package, Tesla will be required to pay county property taxes on buildings and structures, but all taxes on machinery will be exempted. Additionally, Port Lavaca County will exempt inventory taxes for the first 10 years after the contract is signed, and reduce the exemption rate to 90% after 10 years.
