On May 22, 2010, a developer in Florida named Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two Papa John's pizzas. Back then, the coins were worth about $41. Today, that dinner would cost over $800 million. It was one of the first real purchases ever made with Bitcoin, and the crypto world still celebrates it every year as Bitcoin Pizza Day. Laszlo says he has no regrets: someone had to prove Bitcoin could actually buy something. Would you have spent those 10,000 BTC on pizza?
