Today I start my journey on Starknet Built to Adapt...... before i get into what @Starknet is doing about quantum, you need to understand what quantum actually threatens in crypto… (BTW this content aims to explain this with the video given more comprehensive details) every wallet has two key, the private key is a secret number only you know, and the public key is derived from it and sits on chain for anyone to see when you send a transaction, your wallet signs it with the private key and the network checks that signature against your public key, which proves it's you without showing the private key this works because going from the public key back to the private key is practically impossible for normal computers, the maths behind it is called elliptic curve cryptography and it secures most wallets today, ethereum and bitcoin included shor's algorithm is the problem... it's a method that lets a big enough quantum computer work backwards from the public key to the private key, and then it could sign transactions as you > nobody has a quantum computer that big yet so the question for every chain is how fast it can swap that signature maths before the machine exists and the date is hard to guess… google put out an estimate in march of 2026, for what the attack would take, and then an open challenge cut that figure by more than half in about two months that ability has a name, cryptographic agility, and starknet is built around it from two sides first, the proofs starknet runs on stark proofs, which are built on hash functions instead of elliptic curves, and a quantum computer does not break hash functions the way it breaks elliptic curves, so the proving system does not need replacing second, the accounts every starknet account is a smart contract, so the signature check is just code inside it, and the owner can switch to a signature built to resist quantum computers, same address and same assets, without waiting for a network-wide upgrade >>> a post-quantum falcon-512 account has already been demonstrated on starknet mainnet most accounts still sign the old way though, so each owner has to make that switch themselves the catch is that starknet is an ethereum l2, so the bridge and the data it posts to ethereum still rely on ethereum's maths, and until ethereum moves, no l2 can call itself fully quantum safe… ethereum's own plan targets around 2029 for the core post-quantum pieces so starknet said it is now actively considering becoming its own l1, which would let it run its own upgrades instead of waiting on that timeline starkware collects the research, the architecture and the migration plan in the quantum hub, if you want to read more >>> https://t.co/FqC37hFrPa
