If I receive my salary in USDC, can my employer see my entire balance? @Americanfort_io Let’s assume a freelancer receives USDC every month to the same wallet address. If the employer enters that address into a blockchain explorer, they can view all other deposits and the full balance of that address. The address you share to receive payments becomes a clue that enables tracking of your entire financial activity. AmericanFort’s AmericanFortress aims to solve this by separating the public identifier from the actual address used to receive funds. First, you register a @username called FortressName. Instead of sharing a complex wallet address, your counterparty simply enters that name—during supported payment flows, a new stealth address is generated and used to send assets. A stealth address is designed so that the public name cannot be easily linked to individual incoming transactions. This way, you can keep using the same name while minimizing repeated exposure of your actual receiving address. What about when payment proof is needed? The upcoming SafeSend feature is planned to allow users to selectively share only the necessary payment details—not their entire transaction history. For example, a freelancer could prove receipt of a specific invoice, or a company could provide auditors with only the transactions they need. While all transactions remain recorded on-chain, this approach reduces the risk of linking all personal financial activity to a single public address. The currently released macOS wallet is in beta. Names registered in beta are for testing only and cannot be used to send real assets; they will not migrate to the live environment. An SDK for integrating this functionality with external wallets and services is also in preparation. Imagine receiving money without ever sharing your wallet address directly—and only providing proof of specific transactions when needed. If AmericanFortress’s privacy-focused payments are successfully implemented, they could transform everyday financial activities like stablecoin salaries or freelancer settlements.
