A new unit of measurement quietly entered this industry last week, and it isn't TVL. Total Value Boosted. The amount of staked ETH whose block data now moves through an accelerated path. @get_optimum put it on a public dashboard and DefiLlama picked it up, which is how a metric becomes real: a neutral third party agrees to track it. Think about what TVL did to DeFi. It handed everyone a single number to compete on, and within a year every protocol was optimizing for it, including in genuinely stupid ways. Metrics shape behavior. The number you publish is the number your industry starts chasing. TVB is more interesting than it first looks, because it can't be rented with incentives the usual way. Nobody parks capital in a propagation layer. That stake is already staked, already doing its job. What the number counts is operators making an infrastructure decision and then not reversing it. Whether it catches on, I have no idea. But a networking layer getting its own tracked metric means somebody finally decided this part of the stack deserves measuring. That's overdue by about a decade. @blockchainjeff
