What if the network could warn you about a DeFi exploit before @zachxbt even sees it? This is an interesting idea that @EmanAbio discussed on Crypto Insider with @cryptomanran. Most DeFi protocols go through security audits before launching. However, an audit only checks the code at a certain point in time. Once a protocol is live and users start depositing money, new risks can still appear. → That is why @SuiNetwork is building 'Sui Threat Intelligence', a system designed to monitor smart contracts continuously and detect potential threats earlier. So how does it work? • According to the Sui Basecamp announcement, the system is already running. • At launch, it was monitoring more than 450 smart contract packages, each associated with over $100K in value. Together, they represented more than $450M. • Developers can access the monitoring reports for free, which could help them identify security issues and respond faster. But the more interesting part is what Sui wants to build next. → The long-term plan is to integrate Threat Intelligence directly with Sui validators. → This could allow individual transactions to receive risk scores before or during settlement. Because Sui uses an object-based architecture, the system could evaluate risks at the transaction level. For example, imagine an AI agent wants to execute a large DeFi trade. A protocol could check the transaction's risk score and decide whether to allow it, restrict it, or pause it. However, this validator-level feature is still planned, not something that is already available across the network. Most DeFi security incidents become public after funds have already been stolen. Investigators like ZachXBT can help trace what happened, but investigations usually come after the attack. Sui Threat Intelligence is exploring a different approach by identifying potential threats while there is still time to respond. I think this becomes especially important as AI agents start handling more transactions without constant human supervision. If agents are going to manage real capital, they need more than smart contracts that passed an audit months ago. They also need security information that updates as risks change. There are still some important questions: - How accurate are the threat detections, and how often does the system produce false warnings? - Will transaction-level scoring introduce additional costs or delays? - Could these risk signals eventually help DeFi insurance providers assess and price risk? Better monitoring does not guarantee that exploits will be prevented, but it could give developers more time to react. → I think Sui Threat Intelligence is one of the more interesting infrastructure developments from Sui Basecamp. It may not attract as much attention as TPS records or AI agent demos, but security becomes more important as networks handle larger amounts of capital. The contract monitoring system is already running, while validator-level risk scoring remains a longer-term goal. The real test will be whether it can detect meaningful threats early enough for protocols to take action. If AI agents are going to manage more money on-chain, shouldn't the network also help them identify risks before they execute transactions? NFA. DYOR.
