The gold token category has existed for several years. PAXG, XAUT — backed by physical gold in vaults, with on-chain proof, tradable and holdable. But there’s always been one issue: What do you do after you get it on-chain? You just hold it. If you want to use that money for something else, you first have to sell the gold and convert it to a stablecoin — but once sold, the gold is gone. // @strato_net is solving this step. STRATO is a Layer 1 blockchain. Its core concept is called HardFi: enabling physical assets like gold and silver to go on-chain not just to sit idle, but to be actively used. GOLDST and SILVST are on-chain representations of gold and silver. Each token represents one troy ounce of physical metal stored in vaults, with documentation confirming redeemability for physical delivery. At this point, it’s similar to PAXG. The difference lies in the next step. You can deposit GOLDST into a CDP (Collateralized Debt Position) and mint USDST. The gold remains in the vault — and now you also have a USD stablecoin. Use it for savings, trading, providing liquidity, or spending directly. Collateral isn’t limited to gold and silver. Documentation shows that crypto assets, yield-bearing stablecoins, and tokenized equities can also be deposited into CDPs. ━━━━━ ◆ ━━━━━ The chain has pedigree. STRATO is backed by the BlockApps team. In 2014, they built the earliest Haskell client for Ethereum. CTO Jim Hormuzdiar wrote the first line of code for that client. In 2015, when Ethereum Frontier launched, there were only six compatible clients globally — they were one of them. CEO Kieren James-Lubin is a co-founder of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance and holds a mathematics degree from Princeton. CPO Victor Wong co-built Microsoft’s Blockchain-as-a-Service on Azure at DEVCON1 in 2015. Total funding exceeds $41 million. Investors include Fenbushi Capital, ConsenSys Mesh, Galaxy Ventures, and Morgan Creek Capital. ━━━━━ • ━━━━━ My take: The mechanism makes sense. Gold transitions from “only hold and transfer” to “usable as collateral to borrow stablecoins for further use” — offering a new path for those who own gold but don’t want to sell it. Mainnet applications are already live: Depositing collateral, minting USDST, exchanging, and providing liquidity are all operational. But here are a few things to note yourself: > The $STRATO token is not yet used to pay gas fees. Network transaction fees currently use USDST or vouchers; using $STRATO for gas is planned for the future. > Security audits are ongoing through ConsenSys Diligence — not yet finalized with a completed report. > The staking contract has been deployed, but block production and rewards based on staking weight will only activate at a specified upgrade height. > TGE is planned for Q4 2026; exact timing and unlock schedule subject to official announcements. The product is live. The chain has strong credentials. The mechanism is sound. What remains is execution. This is purely an information breakdown — not investment advice. DYOR. @strato_net
