When the French recently protested over the cost of living, the parliament was considering a proposal that could make converting crypto to stablecoins even more expensive 💸 The parliament narrowly voted 38 to 37 in favor of a measure that could require taxable recognition of gains of up to 31.4% when converting eligible crypto into stablecoins 🪙 If fully approved through the budget process and implemented on January 1, 2027, selling Bitcoin to hold stablecoins could become a taxable event—even if the funds never enter a bank account. I believe this is significant, because during volatile markets, stablecoins serve as a safe haven for many traders ⚠️ This proposal can still be amended or removed in upcoming stages, but amid rising pressure over the cost of living, any new tax measures are especially sensitive. Thailand is luckier in this regard, as digital asset trading has been exempt from taxation for five years. Source: https://t.co/vOIQPeYwnm
