During the 2049 event this year, I had another deep conversation with the wizard @0xcryptowizard — an annual ritual, a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Last year’s chat greatly benefited me, and this year was just as insightful. Looking back, the biggest takeaway from last year was reinforcing my understanding of risk management: While growing assets tenfold sounds great, it brings only marginal improvement to quality of life. But if your assets shrink tenfold? The suffering would be unimaginable. Is it really worth risking total loss — chasing bigger houses, private jets, or keeping up with friends — just to expand your influence? After chatting with the wizard on September 29, I wrote a summary post on the 30th, and by October 5, I had rebalanced my positions at home. On October 11, the entire market experienced a catastrophic wave of liquidations. Thanks to my adjustments, my exposure was drastically reduced and I had hedged positions — so I escaped unscathed, with only negligible losses on a small account. Over the past year, this disciplined approach to risk has saved me from several major losses. Whenever I felt tempted or saw friends making huge leveraged trades and reaping massive profits, I reminded myself: stay grounded. This year’s conversation with the wizard also focused heavily on health and maintaining work-life balance in the present moment — because when your body breaks down, even the “1” in front of all your wealth and fame gets severely discounted. If you don’t want work to consume the time you need to maintain your health, how do you allocate time more effectively? How can AI tools help boost your productivity? Not long after returning from 2049, I received shocking news: a college friend was diagnosed with cancer. I was stunned — just two years ago, he flew in from overseas to attend our alumni reunion. His self-made business was thriving, and he looked vibrant. How could someone so young suddenly be in late-stage cancer? This has prompted me to seriously reflect on how to better care for my body and establish healthier routines — how to make up for past health neglect during quiet market periods. Now, even if the market returns to frenzy, I doubt I’d ever pull all-nighters for an entire year again like I did a few years ago. Honestly, right now, if you show me a screenshot of your $10M profit, I might barely react — but if you’ve had Whoop sleep and recovery scores consistently above 95% for a whole week? That’s the kind of thing I’d genuinely envy. I’ll compile and share more of my takeaways from this year’s chat with the wizard soon. Wishing everyone prosperity — and above all, robust health and peace of mind. Bless 🫡🫡🫡
