💰 HOW TO MAKE MONEY IN CRYPTO — AND ACTUALLY KEEP IT Many people can make 2x in a bull market. The hard part is not giving it all back. Here are 5 rules I’d follow: 1. Have an exit plan before buying. Decide in advance where you’ll take profits and what would invalidate your investment thesis. 2. Sell in stages. For example, take some profit at 2x, more at 3x, and keep a smaller position for further upside. These are examples, not universal targets. 3. Protect your capital. Avoid excessive leverage, diversify, and never risk money you can’t afford to lose. 4. Don’t confuse a good project with a good price. Even strong assets can fall 70–80% or more. Bitcoin itself has experienced brutal drawdowns. Source 5. Keep a written record. Track your entry price, position size, realized profit, fees, and remaining exposure. A green portfolio screenshot doesn’t mean you’ve locked in gains. ₿ So how did early Bitcoin holders from 2015 manage to hold for so long? Not all of them did. Many sold early, lost access to their wallets, or left during brutal bear markets. Those who stayed often had a long-term conviction, held without leverage, and survived drawdowns that tested even the strongest hands. Bitcoin fell roughly 84% from its 2017 peak and 77% from its 2021 peak. Historical data The real lesson isn’t “never sell.” It’s to hold when your thesis remains valid, take profits when your plan says so, and never let greed turn paper gains into another round-trip. What’s your rule for taking profits - fixed targets or selling based on market conditions?
