What makes this particularly interesting is that during $IREN's August earnings call, co-CEO Daniel Roberts said that the company had signed a new multiyear cloud contract with a leading frontier AI laboratory, without identifying the customer. Today, Barron's confirmed it, though neither Anthropic nor IREN has publicly confirmed the agreement. Having both Microsoft and Anthropic as customers would provide meaningful validation of its ability to compete for large AI computing workloads. Here's the question I'd really want answered: Is Anthropic the mystery frontier AI customer announced in August, or is this an additional contract? That distinction could change how investors interpret the announcement.
