The next round of so-called airdrops may lean more toward an ICO model. Projects with strong capabilities and resources might allocate a small portion of their tokens for an ICO; projects lacking strength or resources may offer additional free tokens as incentives during their ICO. The era of earning airdrops through simple interactions is over. Only idealistic “foreign teams” with sustainable, profitable projects might occasionally distribute a large traditional airdrop to reward their community. But token farming will still exist—its essence is simply arbitrage through information asymmetry. It’s unwise to overly rely on past models, but there’s also no need to be overly pessimistic. The most important thing: ordinary people should not go all-in on crypto, but they shouldn’t walk away from the table either.
