A CoinShares survey of 2,230 high-net-worth investors across seven major economies found that most already hold digital assets, with crypto accounting for an average of about 10% of their portfolios. The majority of current investors also plan to increase their crypto allocation by 2026. The percentage of digital asset ownership ranges from 54% in Sweden to around 70% in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Switzerland. Among those currently investing in crypto, at least 85% in five of the seven countries say they intend to increase their investment in 2026, rising to 91% in the U.S., U.K., and Germany. The primary reasons for investing are long-term price appreciation and portfolio diversification, while speculation ranks lowest. Bitcoin remains the most popular digital asset, held by approximately 80% of crypto investors. Seventy-seven percent believe Bitcoin will play a significant role in the global financial system, and 79% support stronger regulation of digital asset markets. Younger investors tend to allocate a higher proportion of their assets to digital assets than older groups across all seven countries. Meanwhile, about four in ten investors in Switzerland, France, the U.S., and Germany who work with financial advisors believe their advisors are overly cautious toward crypto.
