🚨OIL IS ABOUT TO CRASH S&P500 The index is still sitting near all-time highs and most people think the oil shock is already behind us In 1974 investors believed the exact same thing Here is how that played out October 1973 -> the oil embargo hits and the S&P drops 10 to 17% The bounce -> everyone decides the worst is over March 1974 -> the embargo gets lifted The next 6 months -> the S&P 500 falls 40% The real crash started after the crisis was solved, when the damage already done to the economy finally caught up with prices Now look at 2026 March 2026 -> the Strait of Hormuz shuts Brent -> rips from about $70 to $118 S&P 500 -> drops 7% and then bounces back above 7,700 Everyone called that the end of the shock and I think it was only the first wave The fuel and freight costs from spring and summer are still working their way through the economy Higher costs usually take 2 to 4 quarters to hit earnings Consumers are burning through savings to keep up with inflation and margins start cracking once companies can no longer pass those costs on That damage lands in Q3 and Q4 earnings, long after the oil headlines are gone The Fed cannot rescue this one either because inflation is still too high for aggressive cuts and the cheap money Wall Street is waiting for will not show up On top of that the index is being held up by a handful of tech names while the rest of the market is already weak To me this looks like the pause before the second wave hits earnings These highs feel just as safe as early 1974 did right before the real drop I called the $17K Bitcoin bottom in 2022 and the $126K top in 2025 Turn notifs on and I will walk you through this liquidity squeeze and call the real bottom here publicly when it forms
