Turns out being the cleverest L2 still doesn’t guarantee you survive @blast is shutting down because the economics no longer make sense for running the chain sustainably And that’s what makes this one interesting Blast actually had one of the more original models from that L2 cycle: make the chain big enough, earn yield from Ethereum underneath, then recycle part of that yield back to users inside the ecosystem At launch, it was fighting in the same arena as @zksync, @Starknet, @Optimism and @arbitrum Years later, those chains are still around while Blast is the one leaving My read is the difference wasn’t just tech $OP, $ARB, $STRK and $ZK entered the market with stronger backers, deeper @ethereum relationships and ecosystems that had already been building roots long before their tokens or mainnets became the main story Blast had a smart mechanism, but a smart mechanism still needs enough users, capital and distribution to keep the machine alive once incentives cool down That’s probably the lesson from this L2 cycle
