South Korea officially announces securities tokenization: stocks, bonds, and funds to be phased onto the blockchain, effective February 2027. The Financial Services Commission (FSC) of South Korea has announced plans to build a securities tokenization infrastructure covering traditional assets such as stocks, bonds, and funds. The policy framework, unveiled on September 4, 2026, will be implemented in phases after becoming law in February 2027, initially focusing on private placements for institutional investors, with future expansion to public offerings and exploration of stablecoin-based on-chain settlement.
