Meta agreed to pay about $16.7 billion to 47 states, plus D.C. and territories, over claims Facebook and Instagram were built to addict kids. Add Texas’s separate $1 billion deal and the total is roughly $18 billion. Teens get a default two-hour daily cap and a midnight to 6 a.m. lockout, unless a parent overrides it. Apparently it takes $18 billion to get a tech giant to act like a normal parent.
