Chipmaker Broadcom plans to raise over $60 billion in financing for an AI chip transaction, benefiting companies including Anthropic and others. According to Bloomberg, the financing may include approximately $30 billion in junior debt, with Broadcom providing partial guarantees for a senior-secured tranche of about $60 billion to $70 billion. Based on current discussions, the total financing could reach up to $100 billion. Broadcom plays a key role in custom chip design, helping companies such as Alphabet and Meta develop their own chips. As tech firms seek to build their own silicon and reduce dependence on market leader NVIDIA, Broadcom’s importance is growing. Broadcom also has chip supply agreements with Anthropic and OpenAI. According to reports, Blackstone and Apollo Global Management are in talks with Broadcom to participate in the financing. As the cost of AI investment continues to rise, tech companies are increasingly turning to fundraising to finance AI infrastructure. Major hyperscalers such as Alphabet, Amazon, and Microsoft have signaled that AI-related spending will remain high through 2026.
