Throughput, decentralization and finality speed are not independent dials. Raising one usually charges the others, and the charge is paid in node hardware requirements, in orphan rate, or in how long you wait before a payment is safe to act on. Every chain has made this trade. The interesting question is not whether a chain made it but which one it picked and whether it says so.
