Cathie Wood Just Bought Tesla and SpaceX Again, the Same Day Musk Said AI Will Be Smarter Than All Humans Combined Within 5 Years
The timing on this one is very on brand for Cathie Wood.
On Monday July 27, ARK Invest dropped over $22.78 million across Tesla and SpaceX stocks. This is becoming a weekly ritual at this point.
On the Tesla side, ARK bought 27,864 shares across two ETFs worth about $8.62 million at Tesla's closing price of $309.22. ARKK led with 18,730 shares at around $5.79 million and ARKQ added 9,134 shares worth about $2.82 million.
On the SpaceX side, ARK picked up 124,543 SPCX shares worth roughly $14.14 million at $113.50 per share. ARKK again did the heaviest lifting with 78,031 shares worth nearly $8.86 million.
Why Now Though?
The purchases came the same day Elon Musk went on record saying AI would surpass the collective intelligence of all human brains within five years. Bold claim.
Whether you believe it or not, it's exactly the kind of statement that makes Cathie Wood's long-term thesis on Tesla and SpaceX look more compelling, not less.
Wood has been buying Tesla almost every single time it dips. SpaceX buying has been accelerating too as merger speculation between the two companies keeps growing.
Gene Munster already put 90% odds on a Tesla-SpaceX combination happening within a couple of years.
Tesla is down over 30% year to date and still Wood keeps adding. Either she's very early or very wrong and she's betting everything it's the former.
Are you following Cathie Wood's lead on Tesla and SpaceX or do you think she's getting this one wrong?
