BNY Mellon’s Belgian unit and BitPay are among 15 new CASPs added to ESMA’s MiCA register.
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has expanded its MiCA registry by adding 15 new crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), bringing the total number of compliant entities to 309. Notably, this update includes BNY SA/NV, the Belgian subsidiary of BNY Mellon, and cryptocurrency payments firm BitPay, marking a significant step for traditional institutional adoption.
This latest addition to the registry reflects an accelerating trend of mainstream financial firms aligning with European Union regulatory standards. Alongside BitPay and BNY Mellon, the new approvals include specialized banks from Germany and Denmark, showcasing a diverse range of companies seeking to operate within the new legal framework.
The rapid growth of this registry follows the July 1 transition deadline, signaling a maturing market with strengthened regulatory oversight. Securing a spot on this register allows these providers to legally offer their services across all 27 EU member states, streamlining cross-border operations.
