FIFA Expects Record $15 Billion Revenue From 2026 World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is now projected to generate significantly more revenue than previously expected.

* FIFA expects total tournament revenue to reach approximately $15 billion, up from the earlier projection of $11 billion.

* FIFA President Gianni Infantino has reportedly shared the updated forecast with member associations.

* Strong hospitality demand and ticket sales are expected to be the biggest revenue drivers.

* FIFA has not imposed price controls on the official secondary ticket market.

* A 15% fee is charged to both buyers and sellers for every ticket transaction on the official resale platform.

* The 2026 tournament will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, expanding from 32 teams and 64 matches in 2022.

* The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar generated $5.769 billion in total revenue.

The expanded format and larger commercial opportunities are expected to make the 2026 FIFA World Cup the highest grossing tournament in FIFA history.
