Bitcoin Slips to $63K as the Iran Situation Gets Even More Intense
Markets are having a rough Friday, and honestly, it's not hard to see why.
Bitcoin dropped down to around $63K while U.S. stock futures kept sliding too, all after the U.S. launched fresh strikes on Iran, marking six consecutive nights of military action now.
CENTCOM confirmed the latest round hit Iranian military targets, including air defense sites, coastal surveillance, logistics infrastructure, and maritime capabilities. Reports point to several bridges and a major railway station near Bandar Abbas getting hit as well.
The Situation Is Spreading Fast
Iran responded by striking Qatar, with early reports suggesting impact at the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base. On top of that, attacks are ongoing across several Gulf countries, including Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Iraq. A White House spokesperson said Iran's still signaling interest in reaching a deal with the U.S. amid the pressure.
Things got even more chaotic on the political side too. Trump accused China of interfering in the 2020 U.S. election during a speech, which sparked fresh calls to push through the SAVE America Act before the midterms. A lot is happening on multiple fronts at once.
All of this pushed the U.S. dollar index up to 100.79 and oil prices to $80 a barrel. That combination is exactly the kind of macro backdrop that tends to spook risk assets, and crypto felt it directly.
Interestingly, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink came out saying Bitcoin actually looks stable at these levels and that he's still bullish on crypto over the next 12 months, even with all this noise happening around it.
Markets clearly don't love this level of geopolitical uncertainty. Do you think Bitcoin holds up around these levels, or is there more downside if the situation with Iran keeps escalating? What's your read?
