Overview
Ondo Finance is a tool that facilitates real-world yields on-chain, such as Treasuries, money-market funds and now, U.S. equities. Typically, it's the institutional rails first, retail access second real world asset (RWA) tokenization.
Team & Backers
Pinku Suran and Nathan Allman, both previously with Goldman Sachs, are the founders of Ondo Finance in 2021. Commercial operations are held by Ondo Finance, and governance is handled by the non-profit Ondo Foundation and the DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) that holds the ONDO.
In June 2026, Ondo appointed ex Invesco ETF head John Hoffman to further flesh out the team's onchain investment products, which is another sign that they're bringing in further deep experience in the TradFi space.
Use Case
The protocol is anchored by flagship products, OUSG (tokenized Treasuries) and USDY (a dollar-yielding token). Ondo Global Markets went even further, having registered with the SEC to serve as a transfer agent to add over 430 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs to the blockchain, including BlackRock's IVV ETF.
The total RWA value locked in Ondo's products has surpassed $3 billion. Total value locked of RWA across Ondo's products has exceeded $3 billion.
Competitors
While BlackRock's own tokenized fund runs its own on-chain asset manager, the fact that the entire category of RWA is warranted is closing Ondo's first-mover window.
Risks
Supply overhang is the largest: Unscheduled unlocks are expected to almost triple ONDO supply by 2028. Tokenization of securities is also undergoing ongoing regulatory development in real-time, which further compounds the uncertainty surrounding this asset class.
Outlook
Ondo's concepts, such as real partnerships with institutional investors, increasing the total value locked, SEC registration of its infrastructure, etc., are arguably more advanced than its token price.
