Traditional blockchains are excellent calculators. Give every node the same input, and Ethereum or Solana can verify the exact same output: who owns an asset, whether a signature is valid, or whether a payment was sent. The problem begins when a contract asks something like: “Was the work delivered according to the brief?” Code cannot judge whether an article is accurate enough, whether a service was completed properly, or whether one party kept the spirit of an agreement. These questions require interpretation, not arithmetic. That is where @GenLayer fits. I think of it as a decentralized court for AI and onchain agreements. Intelligent Contracts can read natural language and external information, then a randomly selected group of validators, each using different AI models, evaluates the outcome independently. They must reach consensus, and when they disagree, the decision can be appealed and reviewed by a new group. This matters because autonomous AI agents will increasingly make purchases, negotiate terms, and complete work for people. Payments and identity solve the happy path, but real commerce always creates disputes. A seller may claim the task was completed. A buyer may say it missed the requirements. A normal smart contract can only follow predefined rules, while a traditional court is too slow for software operating at machine speed. GenLayer is building the layer between those two extremes: faster than a human court, but capable of handling questions that code alone cannot settle. Machine-speed commerce will eventually need machine-speed judgment.
