🔮 American gaming associations have urged the US Senate to explicitly ban sports betting and casino-style gambling from prediction market platforms as the CLARITY Act moves forward. The associations argue these @CFTC-registered platforms are expanding gambling nationwide without voter approval, state licensing, or tribal authorization — offering products they call "indistinguishable from sports betting" while exploiting regulatory inaction at the CFTC. The letter states that operators repackage wagers as financial "event contracts" to dodge state laws, gaming taxes, and consumer-protection rules, adding that the CFTC simply lacks the resources to police a betting market it was never built to oversee.
