Johnston then allegedly burned roughly $1.2 million in only 2 months o; private jets, jewellery, luxury rentals, nightlife, 2 BMWs, a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a North Miami mansion and flights for 2 girls from New York. His accomplice, Brandon Michael Tardibone, owned an exotic car rental business and allegedly helped turn the stolen crypto into the luxury lifestyle. Then Johnston got caught speeding. (For real!) Police found 21 suspected amphetamine tablets and seized his phone, computer and handwritten notes, which reportedly connected him to the entire operation. He has now pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering, surrendered around 53.16 BTC and 275.23 ETH, and agreed to deportation to Canada after sentencing. Prosecutors are recommending 51 to 63 months in prison in return for his cooperation.
