Day 134 / 365 Another reminder that regulation alone does not make crypto safe. StablR, a MiCA-compliant stablecoin issuer backed by Tether, reportedly lost around $10M after attackers gained control of the minting system and created millions in fake stablecoins. EURR and USDR instantly lost their peg. A stablecoin losing stability is still one of the strangest things to watch in crypto. What stands out here is the bigger point. This was supposed to be one of the “regulated” and “institutional-grade” parts of the market. Audits, compliance, reserves, transparency, all the things people usually mention to build confidence. But none of that mattered once the minting control was compromised. That’s the uncomfortable reality crypto keeps running into. A project can look perfect on paper and still fail because of one weak point underneath. At the same time, MicroStrategy is still deploying billions into Bitcoin strategies like nothing changed. Which says a lot about where confidence still sits in this market. So once again, both sides exist together. More regulation. More institutional involvement. But the same security problems still showing up again and again.
