A lot of people keep asking: “At what BTC price does MSTR break?” But I think that is the wrong question. The bigger risk may not be one violent Bitcoin crash. The bigger risk may be Bitcoin going sideways for too long. Why? Strategy holds roughly 818,334 BTC at an average price around $75,537. If BTC sits around the $75K–$80K area for a long period, the balance sheet stops producing enough upside to justify the growing cost of capital. Now add the preferred equity structure. If total preferred capital is around $13.5B–$15.5B, with an average dividend cost around 10–11.5%, the annual cash obligation is roughly: $13.5B × 11% = $1.48B per year $15.5B × 11% = $1.70B per year Now divide that by the BTC stack: $1.5B ÷ 818,334 BTC = around $1,833 per BTC per year So Bitcoin needs to rise roughly $1,800–$2,100 per coin every year just to cover the preferred dividend burden on paper. That is before dilution, refinancing pressure, operating costs, interest expenses, market discounts, and volatility in MSTR/STRC. This is where the real problem starts: BTC stays flat. Dividends keep running. Preferred holders expect yield. Common shareholders absorb dilution. Raising new capital becomes harder if sentiment turns. And then the uncomfortable question appears: Where does the cash come from? New capital? More dilution? Refinancing? Or eventually, selling BTC? That is why stagnation is more dangerous than most people think. A crash is obvious danger . Everyone sees it as a threat . But if Bitcoin chops sideways for 2–3 years, the structure slowly starts eating itself from the inside. So the real question is not: “At what price does MSTR get liquidated?” The better question is: How long can BTC stay flat before the Strategy model becomes dependent on constant new capital? Saylor does not have to lose only from a crash. He can also lose from time. Time decay, but on a corporate Bitcoin balance sheet.
