⚠️ GAMEFI IS DEAD — AND THIS TIME, IT’S THE CEO HERSELF SAYING IT Lily Liu, President of the #Solana Foundation, publicly stated yesterday: “Gaming on a blockchain is not coming back.” Take a moment to consider that. The woman whose chain has poured hundreds of millions into gaming projects—Star Atlas, Aurory, Genopets, StepN—is declaring her own narrative dead. And the numbers back her up. $AXS is at $1.20. Its all-time high was $164.90—that’s a drop of 99.27%. If you bought at $100, your investment is now worth just 1.2%. #Axie Infinity was THE promise. Play-to-Earn. Filipino families lived off it. Entire documentaries were made. Axie was on every crypto channel, in every headline. $GMT is at one cent. Its all-time high was $4.11—that’s a drop of 99.73%. #StepN—the app that paid you to walk. Remember? People paid $1,000 for digital sneakers. In April 2022, StepN was the fastest-growing app in crypto. Today, the token is practically worthless. Some of you even found me through StepN! Now scale this up—not just Axie and StepN, but the entire GameFi narrative. Billions were poured into this thesis: “Gaming will bring the next billion users into crypto.” That was the line repeated by every VC, every founder, every crypto Twitter account. It didn’t work. Meta burned $80 billion on the metaverse. They even rebranded from Facebook to Meta for this vision—and even with unlimited funding, they couldn’t make it work. If Meta failed, what does that say about a crypto gaming studio with 20 people? What interests me about Lily Liu’s statement: It wasn’t an accident. Solana’s own gaming division later promoted her to “Head of Gaming.” The CPO released a fake crisis statement. Toly wrote “Prove her wrong.” This was calculated—a rage-bait move designed to mobilize the community. And that’s exactly where we stand. If the best strategy for blockchain gaming is to publicly declare it dead just to generate attention—then it’s dead. The only insight from Mert of Helius that made me pause: “Memecoins are the real gaming. A pure MMORPG with PvP.” It’s cynical—but if you’re honest, he’s got a point. People don’t want a blockchain game. They want dopamine and a chance at money. And memecoins deliver that better than any GameFi project ever could. For your portfolio: If someone tries to sell you the next gaming token, look at $AXS and $GMT—not as investments, but as warnings. GameFi isn’t a sleeping narrative waiting to wake up. It’s a closed chapter. The president of the chain that bet the most on it is telling you to your face. Listen.
